Civilian Committee - Who's who

All squadrons need a Civilian Committee who handles all finances and ensures the smooth running of the squadron. Leigh 316 is no different. Committee members comprise of a chairman and a treasurer and hopefully anyone else who can spare some time to help out.

As the ATC has no formal incoming therefore it is the job of the Civilian Committee to organise fundraising events to raise money for the squadrons bank account. The funds raised pay for transportation to and from events, fuel for the minibus, tax and insurance also for the minibus. It also pays for sports kit so that 316 cadets can represent their squadron properly.

The committee are also responsible for subs and the collection of the subs. Once again the subs contribute to the squadrons account. The subs for Leigh 316 are £2.00 per week and can also be paid by Direct Debit, cash or cheque.

Many utility items are also funded via the committee such as ink and paper for the printer and any other resources needed for educational and enrichment purposes.

The committee tend to hold meetings at least every 3 months where all of the above issues can be discussed and to hold an AGM once a year where more important things such as finances are discussed in more detail and the direction for the squadron over the coming 12 months.
