November 2008 Flight Lieutenant Daniel Freeney RAFVR(T)

It is with regret that our Squadron leader 'Flight Lieutenant Daniel Freeney' has now decided to move onto pastures new. The post will now be filled by 'Flying Officer David Stevenson' with immediate effect. The staff and Cicilian Committee would like to thank Mr Freeney for all of his hard work over the past 2 years and would also like to wish him the best of luck in the future. The staff and Civilian Committee would also like to wish Mr Stevenson luck in his new role of Commanding Officer.

Friday 12th September 2008

The open evening which was held at the squadron proved to very successful. The evening was attended as planned by ou local MP and honorary Civ Com member 'Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport' Andy Burnham. Mr Burnham stayed to give out some presentations to cadets and and was later interviewed by the 316 media team. Over the course of the evening a large number of new recruits signed up to the squadron.

The following is a clipping from the Leigh Reporter dated Thursday August 28th 2008. It is centered around Andy Burnhams visit to our squadron on Thursday 11th September 2008. The evening is to begin at around 7.00 PM and all are welcome to attend to meet our honorary Civ Com member and other members of staff who will be pleased to answer questions about the ATC and to assist in any way possible.

August 14th 2008

Andy BurnhamLeigh 316 Squadron will be hosting an open evening on 11/09/08 at approximately 7 PM for potential new recruits. The evening will be an opportunity for young people to come along with parents and friends to have a look at some of the activities we take part in and to get to meet members of staff and committee. It is also confirmed that the 'Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport Andy Burnham', will be attending the evening as an honorary member of the Civilian Committee. Congratulations to Sgt G Brittain who tonight received promotion to Flt Sgt. This follows a successful period as a Sgt and was decided by all members of staff that Flt Sgt Brittain is very much a people person and a leader of men and therefore thoroughly deserved the promotion.
